{Field Trip} CB2

This isn't a real and true Field Trip, since I'm not actually touring the brick-and-mortar CB2. But that's only because there's not one in my area! If there were, I'd be field-tripping more than my wallet could handle! CB2 is the younger, hipper, (and most importantly) more affordable cousin of Crate & Barrel. I can always rely on them for cool lighting, furniture, and home accessories. Now they've sweetened the pot by partnering up with Robert and Cortney Novogratz...the husband-wife designer dream team...for a CB2 and Novogratz Collection.

The fearless and colorful collection is inspired by the Novogratz's Brazilian home. (Total side note, but how cool are you to say, 'My house in Brazil.' Which not only indicates you have multiple houses, but that you're lucky enough to have one of them in Brazil!! Think they'd want to adopt a grown woman?!)

I could live in a house full of these pieces. How about you? The Dupla Credenza is my favorite, but the Figueira Swing Chair would be fun for the backyard.

Read more for your chance to win a week's vacation at the Novogratz Brazil home!

The Novogratz aren't likely to adopt me, but there is a chance me and 3 friends could win a one-week stay in their Brazilian vacation home! Or a $100 CB2 gift card!

Just enter the CB2 and Novogratz Brasil Sweepstakes before June 3rd for your chance!

Follow CB2 on their social media channels for more updates on this Brazil trip of a lifetime.

But if you win, you have to take me. What's your favorite piece from the new collection?

Cute Gift Card Packaging

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When Dollar General Gift Center challenged me to create cute gift packages using only supplies from their store, I was a little uncertain. I'm no stranger to the dollar store, but had never actually been to a Dollar General. Gift cards are fun to have, but not that exciting to open...so my goal was to find fun ways to package the ones I give my nephews.

So armed with their $10 gift card, I raided my local Dollar General Gift Center store. I was surprised at the huge assortment of products, and had no trouble rounding up cute gift wrapping materials in their large Christmas aisle.

For only $10, I came home with:

3 Takeout Boxes
2 Bags Shredded Cellophane
1 Large Roll of Ribbon
1 Oversized Glittered Gift Bag
1 Package of 10 Gift Tags
1 Package Tissue Paper

That's a lot of loot, right?! Then I set out to make fun packages for my gift cards....first filling the boxes with bright and shiny cellophane.

Candy is always a bonus, so I included some also found at the Dollar General Gift Center.

I added big colorful bows and cute little tags, and these babies are ready for giving!

Can you believe I actually found all this at Dollar General Gift Center? Hmmm, wonder what else I can round-up for $10!? Check out their Facebook page for more ideas!

Bright Paper Windmills

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Astrobrights Papers by Neenah Paper for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

It's hard to believe Summer is almost over, and the kids will be returning to school soon. I'm excited about what the new school year has in store, but will miss the relaxed days of Summer. When AstroBrights Paper contacted me about spreading the word of their "Give a Brighter Year" sweepstakes, I was totally game. Afterall, how amazing would it be to win $30,000 worth of supplies for your favorite elementary school?! And all you have to do is 'Like'  Astrobrights on Facebook!

We've had a crafting dry-spell lately, so I thought it was time to create something together. I added a little Back-to-School flavor to it, as an opportunity to talk about their hopes and fears concerning the new year. Since we're spending long evenings outside, I thought windmills would be the perfect fun project.

AstroBrights sent me a pack of their 23 fabulously bright-colored papers, and challenged us to create a fantastic family project, as part of the "Make Something AstroBright Design Challenge" on Facebook.

So I grabbed my favorite helpers, and we got to it.

IMG_1366

1. Start with a square-shaped paper, and fold it diagonally both ways. Then make a cut at each corner, going halfway to the center.
2. Bend every other point towards the center, and secure one at a time with a dot of glue.
3. Glue a paper circle to the center, covering the folded corners.

IMG_1375

4. If you want your windmill to spin, insert a pin through a bead, and push through the center of the windmill.

IMG_1408

5. Thread another bead on the back of the pin, and push through a wooden stick or dowel. Cover the exposed pin with a pencil eraser to protect little fingers.

IMG_1395

We cut our center circles out of apple and school bus scrapbook paper to tie in with the Back-to-School theme. Not only were they fun and colorful to make, but we had a great talk about the new school year.

Win a Trip (or 3) to Florida!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of VISIT FLORIDA for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

One of the perks of living in Nashville, was being so close to the beautiful beaches of Florida! After only a half-day of driving we could sink our toes in the powdery white sand, and swim in the clear blue-green waters. Before our son started school, we had the freedom to drive to the quiet and quant town of Navarre Beach, or the more bustling Panama Beach, whenever we wanted.

(Panama Beach)

Since moving to Texas, we haven't been able to Visit Florida as often as we'd like (this girl doesn't drive that far in one day!). Fortunately, Mr. Sugarplum has family with beach houses in Destin and Siesta Key, so we've been treated a few times over the years.

It is so fun to relax as a family, and explore all that Florida beaches have to offer. One of our favorite trips was to Sanibel Island. Hopefully someone we know will buy property there soon, and we'll go again!
